Hotter Than Hell - Cover Variants
As we make our transfer from Patreon to Substack, I would like to share with you all our Hotter Than Hell Cover variants and a little bit of the history of making them!
First, there was a concept. Ben came to me with an idea, a proposal. We were to make a comic for an anthology based on Passion. What did that mean? Hell if we knew! With such an ambiguous idea, we ran with it (maybe a bit further than others would have) and landed on Hotter Than Hell. Really, it moved itself and by time we knew it, we had a story.

After the concept, we wrote the story and drew the pages. We came back around to the cover at the end and made a series of thumbnails Ben and I voted on.
We both really liked the rule of thirds being used in this composition. The girl contemplating her actions, the fire billowing behind her and highlighting the title and tonalizing its presence.
Afterward, we did some color testing on the final image. Can you guess which one we chose in the end?
