First off, if you haven’t checked it out yet:
KICKSTARTER IS LIVE!
We are almost to the halfway mark of the Kickstarter and halfway to our goal!
We still have a long way to go and we want to ensure we get across that line way before the deadline strikes, so we could use your support! We will continue to beat the drum to get in front of as many people as possible. So far, we’ve had great support from Kickstarter — being featured as a project they love, tagged in their Twitter and Instagram posts, and we can be expected to be featured once again at the tail end of the project. Let’s not stop there!
In the meantime, we will be highlighting creators on the project and the projects they are working on! Let’s take a look at who we have shown so far, shall we?
Meet Brandon Ellison & Romano Molenaar!
Coming from the US and the Netherlands, their story is called "Polar Opposites."
They are diving into the lore of "Nanook" from Inuit (Iñupiat peoples), North America.

About Nanook:
In Inuit religion, Nanook was the master of bears, meaning he decided if hunters deserved success in finding and hunting bears and punished violations of taboos. Native people believed that polar bears allowed themselves to be killed in order to obtain the souls of the tools (tatkoit), which they would take with them into the hereafter.
Meet Alisha Mahapatra!
Hailing from India, her story is titled "The Wailing Bells."
She brings us a captivating tale of Goddess Ghanteswari from her home country.
Alisha @alishak_ak is an engineering grad turned concept artist who specializes in character creation and scene-setting.
Writing may be her newest skill, but it's quickly becoming a passionate pursuit.
About Goddess Ghanteswari:
The goddess Ghanteswari or the Deity of Bells comes from a temple in India. Known as the 'lighthouse without light,' the temple was built by early sailors who used the bells as warnings against heavy winds and the bells were gifts from people who had had their wishes fulfilled.
Meet Bill Masuku!
Coming straight from Zimbabwe, his enthralling tale is called "House of Fortunes."
He explores the lore of Tiurakh and Olokun, gods of fortune hailing from West Africa.
Bill @billmasukuart is a Nommo Award-nominated artist known for comics like Razor-Man, Welcome to Dead World, and Captain South Africa.
He's also an editor for Kugali Media and storyboarded for Netflix and Disney x Kugali's animated series Iwaju.
About Tiurakh and Olokun:
Tiurakh is regarded as the god of wealth.Olokun is an orisha spirit and is highly praised for their ability to give great wealth, health, and prosperity to their followers. Legend speaks of Olukun’s rivalry, leading to their manifesting the Atlantic Ocean
So excited for these stories! We really couldn’t have asked for a bigger group of talented creators to join our anthology!
Now, with how busy everything is, Ben and I have not been able to quite start on ours — until now! For all the paid substack subscribers, I’ll be dropping the comic script format in PDF form below! Be the first to get a sneak peek at the story of Pamola and how we bring it alive!
Love,
